As another part of my education this year, I’ll be highlighting portions of @Jason’s weekly videocast – This Week in Startups (TWiST) for two reasons.
The first is similar to Mixergy in that Jason has on a CEO of a startup each week and he interviews him. Not as hard hitting as Mixergy, but a different crowd and a different set of questions. There’s some great thought and story that come out of this segment. It’s motivating to hear how others have started up their careers, and how they got to where they are. I’ll give feedback on this weekly, and be going back through from episode 1 to give some of the great stuff to you. (Also, I’ll share the homework assignments from the early days, they were pretty solid)
Second, is the Ask Jason segment. Here someone calls the show to Ask Jason a question about their startup, problem, issue, idea, etc. The beauty of these segments is found when you remember that creativity breeds creativity. You want to be more creative? Surround yourself with creativity, you’ll get used to coming up with new ideas, seeing opportunity in obscure areas, and solving problems. Now don’t misunderstand, Jason is no Chuck Norris and his tears will cure no cancer, but it’s fun to hear someone call in with an idea for a business, it’s a $20 idea when they start, 10 minutes later it’s the best idea you’ve ever heard and Jason is leading the angel investor round. You go through that enough times, you start to be able to do it on your own. That’s the idea, and that’s why TWiST.
